Challenge

Redesign the upper and the sole for marine shoes using modern production techniques, reducing the number of operations and the price.

The shoes are supposed to be used on the boats, so the upper materials should be resistant to the UV light, to the marine water, and should dry fast. With minimum details that can be dangerously hooked on the parts of the boat. The sole should be light, but at the same time protective, and with drainage canals inside.

Outcome
The upper is made with 3d mesh with big holes for aeration and quick dry. High-resistant TPU film is applied around for the maximum side protection.

The sole is composed of two parts: light Eva midsole with drainage channels and outer rubber sole for best grip. Grip is also achieved thanks to the multidirectional soft lugs strategically placed that adapt to any surface avoiding slipping. The insole is made with non-absorbing materials and holes to drain water.

To communicate better the intended use of the shoes, on the upper and the midsole there are two keywords: "aqua grip" and "drain system". To fix the shoes on the feet an elastic lace with cord lock and webbing loops are used.
